ABOUT US Welcome to The American HISTORY theamerican.co.uk is the online sister of The American newspaper. The monthly magazine has been published for over 30 years, in fact it first came out in 1976, the USA's Bicentennial year. It was the first publication for Americans in the UK - visitors, vacationers, those working here for a while and those who have decided to make Britain their home. They come from all walks of life, but many are in finance, the oil industry, the military, the diplomatic corps or are entrepreneurs and run their own companies here. The American is still their only regular monthly publication, its newsprint format making it an immediate and lively read. It became a hub of this active community and has always striven to provide its subscribers with information they need to know and articles they want to read. theamerican.co.uk and The American are complimentary and work together. Regular features include: news from the UK and USA and about the American community in the UK; 'what's on' guides in the Diary Dates and Music Live listings; cartoons, competitions, feature articles, reviews, arts, food & drink, automobiles, American sports and the most comprehensive directory of American Organizations in the UK so you can find your community group, sports club or American school. Online we will also be bringing you a forum, special events just for Americans in the UK, and more. We want to keep improving the service we offer our subscribers, so please contact us with your news or article ideas.
