The British Memorial Garden Trust is once again running concerts in New York and London on September 11th to 'Honour The Day' as a sign of unity and friendship. Speaking from New York, Camilla Hellman, MBE, President of the Trust said "The concerts occurring simultaneously in London and New York is very important we feel to the reinforcing the message of unity and friendship – and as an expression of the unique bond we share through adversity. It reinforces the Trust's motto of Reflect, Remember, and Rebuild as we honour the tragedy of that day" In Grosvenor Square, London The Regimental Band of the Coldstream Guards and The Band and Bugles of the Rifles, will perform, along with the choir of the Fulham Camerata and leading Scottish rock violinist Laura McGhee. In the British Garden at Hanover Square, New York, internationally renowned tenor, Russell Watson will open the ceremony performing the national anthems, The New York Scottish Pipes and Drums along with The Manchester Regiment of the Police and Fire Pipe Band. Forty young children will also perform from The British International School of New York. Information on The British Memorial Garden Trust and The September Concerts The British Memorial Garden Trust have undertaken a capital improvement of Hanover Square which in May this year was formally named the British Garden at Hanover Square by New York City officials and in the presence of HRH Prince Henry of Wales. The Trust is under the patronage of His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales, and is a gift to the people and City of New York from the Anglo–American community. Designed by British landscape architects Julian and Isabel Bannerman, the garden is listed on the Congressional Register of Living Memorials. The Park serves to honour the 67 British lives lost in the World Trade Center attacks on September 11, 2001 and as part of the renewal of Lower Manhattan. The Park is in the centre of the historic area of New York with early links to the British. The garden features stone from all around the United Kingdom, particularly from Caithness, Morayshire, Bath and York as well as yew topiary, benches and a ribboning of hand– carved stone representing a map of all the counties of Great Britain.
