The 75th anniversary of VE Day will be marked in just a few weeks, on May 8, 2020. Lots of celebrations and commemorations were planned, but sadly due to the ongoing Coronavirus lockdown, many of these have had to be cancelled or delayed. So it's great to see that the US Embassy in London is promoting a way to bring some color back into the commemorations, with two posters that your kids (or you!) can color in and display to mark the ocassion.
Revealing the posters, the Embassy wrote that "We want YOU to help us celebrate the achievements of the Greatest Generation who helped bring about an end to World War II. Please print out these posters and ask your children to color it in and place it in your window at home".
After coloring in the poster, the Embassy are asking you to display them in your window at home, take a photograph and share it on social media using the hashtag #CelebrateThem. The Embassy then write "Together let’s ensure the bravery of the men and women who ushered in freedom across Europe is not forgotten."
The team at The American are already getting their coloring pencils out, so we hope you can join in a fun way to celebrate a really important milestone, and commemorate those US, UK and world servicemen and women who fought for freedom and liberty in Europe.
The two posters are available to download and print from the US Embassy website. Go to https://uk.usembassy.gov/75th-anniversary-of-ve-day-coloring-posters-celebratethem/
