With the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, the 2020 Democratic National Convention is taking place in a virtual environment online. The digital nature of the conventions for both the Democratic and Republican parties offer opportunities for US Citizens based abroad to become more involved and discuss some of the big issues that face overseas Americans.
Democrats Abroad, the group within the Democratic Party focusing on issues facing Americans overseas, has confirmed two special events looking at topics of interest to US Citizens who live outside of the States.
Tuesday August 18, Tony Harrington, US Ambassador to Brazil (1999 to 2001), and Fitz Haney, US Ambassador to Costa Rica (2015 to 2017), discuss matters relating to Latin and South America.
Wednesday August 19, Governor Phil Murphy of New Jersey, a former US Ambassador to Germany from and finance chairman for the Democratic National Committee, who currently chairs the Democratic Governors Association, speaks with Democrats Abroad and other special guests.
Thursday August 20, Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer participates in a special 'breakfast event' call.
