The sun is out, the heatwave’s here, so what better time for the American sport of summer, baseball, to make its debut on UK soil? Although, fun fact, the players of the New York Yankees and the Boston Red Sox will actually be playing on American soil in London. Confused? Check out Jay B Webster’s preview of MLB’s London premier to find out.

Elsewhere, there’s news about the new Underground service to the US Embassy in London, a Transatlantic River scheme celebrating the Thames and the James River in Virginia, and two great competitions – one to see upcoming WW2 documentary film The Cold Blue on July 4, the other to tour the Houses of Parliament. Speaking of The Cold Blue, we spoke with its creator Erik Nelson about paying tribute to the US Eighth Air Force and its bomber crews who fought to liberate Europe during the Second World War.

Last but not least, the July/August issue of The American is out now – and it’s out of this world! Check it out, and enjoy your newsletter!
