Last year marked the 100th anniversary since the armistice which ended the First World War. This year, events have taken place across the UK and US to commemorate the 75th anniversary of D-Day. In 2020, it'll be 75 years since VE Day, victory in Europe. Remembering and honoring those American, British and other soldiers who fought for our liberties is not just important as a means of reflecting on our history, but a vital opportunity to come together and pay tribute to the freedoms we all share today. We have some really interesting articles in this week's newsletter, including Pete Lawler's powerful reflections on the tragedy of Exercise Tiger at Slapton Sands, a look at one amazing veteran by Liesl Bradner, and details on commemorations for Veterans Day and Remembrance Day in the UK and Europe at the many American Cemeteries which honor those who lost their lives. Enjoy your newsletter.
