Next week, Monday May 25, marks Memorial Day, but you’re probably used to the drill now – the public commemorations are no longer public due to the current situation. That said, there are lots of virtual commemorations and ways to get involved and remember. The American Legion are hosting a Virtual Day of commemorations, and the American Battle Monuments Commission are streaming ceremonies from 8am EST (1pm BST) and noon EST (5pm) via their Facebook page on May 25.

Memorial Day weekend also means it’s a Bank Holiday Weekend in the UK and a Federal Holiday in the US, so if you’re pondering your plans for a long weekend, check out the Free Read E-Edition of The American. Over 100 pages with all sorts of features, interviews, news and articles, and you’re free to read it, download it and share it with your friends, family and colleagues. Whatever you’re up to this weekend, stay safe, stay well, and enjoy your newsletter.
