| Happy International Friendship Day! The UN marks July 30 as a day to celebrate friendships around the world, and as we enter August, it’s a good time to think about those friends and family who we haven’t been able to see in recent times. Lockdown may be easing, but international travel remains complicated – as evidenced by this week’s change in rules relating to travel from Spain to the UK. Wherever your nearest and dearest are in the world, a UN recognized day is always a good reason to wish them well!
In news, things are changing quite quickly. A second US stimulus package looks more likely, while you can now apply to renew your US passport via the US Embassy in London. UK visas will no longer be automatically extended from the end of August, and Free TV Licences are ending for over 75s. Next week also marks the start of the Eat Out To Help Out 50% discount at participating restaurants across the UK, so if you’re planning to go out, enjoy some sense of a return to normality.
Find out about all of these and more below. Plus sports guru Mike Carlson's Column - Farewell Washington Redskins, welcome ...who exactly?
