| This week we have two great stories celebrating former US Presidents with special UK connections. In Surrey, England, the John F Kennedy Memorial Landscape has been given Grade II protected status, marking its importance in 20th Century Anglo-American relations. Also this week, a plaque has been unveiled in Weston Super Mare, near Bristol, marking the spot where Dwight D Eisenhower chose to spend the night camping with his troops ahead of D-Day, rather than in a hotel. Two former US Presidents, two individuals who helped define the Special Relationship in the 20th Century, two great examples of the ongoing importance of Anglo-American connections.
We thought we'd start with the good news because, on the other hand, life remains stressful on both sides of the pond. A recent study found that Americans and Brits are more likely to experience depression in light of the coronavirus pandemic. With the stress of travel, healthcare, and life in general, it's no surprise, but we're here to support you – and if you need to reach out, reach out to us, we're here to talk.
We also have some fun and interesting features this week, including sports guru Mike Carlson on College Football - how can it survive coronavirus?
So stay safe, remain well, support each other and enjoy your newsletter. |
