| Welcome to October! First things first, where on earth did September go? Before you get caught up looking back though, the near future is important too. We’re just 33 days from the US Presidential Election, and this week marks Absentee Voting Week. You’ll hopefully have received or soon be set to receive your Absentee Ballot papers. If you have received your Ballot, fill it out, sign it and return it as soon as possible – that’s the advice from the FVAP.
After a challenging September, we’ve got a lot of really positive news for you this week. Congratulations to our contributor Carol Gould, for being honored by her former school, the Philadelphia High School for Girls. Congratulations also go to Marvin Tillman, an American pub manager in the UK who won an award for Community Mindfulness. There’s also activity from both US political parties on key issues affecting overseas Americans, and to make it even better, proposed US immigration and visa fee increases have been blocked, at least for now! Plus, Transatlantic music and charity feature too.
In our featured articles, Adam M Lowenstein writes that watching US politics from abroad has helped him to fight FOMO, while Michael M Sandwick is out and about selflessly letting you know where to eat out.
Times are challenging, but there are lots of great, positive stories out there. Enjoy them, and enjoy your newsletter. |
