| Two days on from the US Election, and there remain plenty of question marks (dare I say fireworks too? Happy Bonfire Night!). One thing that is clear, however, is that America is on course to witness one of its highest voter turnouts in 120 years, and overseas Americans have played a big part. Given the narrow margins involved, the overseas vote has been important, and if this continues, it’ll be important for US politicians to pay more attention to issues affecting Americans around the world. So if you were able to vote, a big congratulations, and thank you!
Back in the UK, a 4-week lockdown has started from today, meaning that most shops, restaurants and other hospitality venues are closing. The US Embassy has reduced its in person services, and the American cemeteries at Cambridge and Brookwood have had to temporarily close as a result.
In features, Mike Carlson reports on the success of the Dodgers in the World Series, and we ask if the entertainment of election night is still worth it given the dramatic changes of the 2020 vote?
With everything that’s going on, stay safe, stay well, be positive, and enjoy your newsletter. |
