They used to call August the 'silly season' in newspaperland, a month when nothing much happened and publishers resorted to silly stories and made up articles.
We wouldn't call this week's newsletter silly. Not when it has a fabulous video of Stephen Colbert and a whole host of Broadway stars singing a Billy Joel classic in praise of a campaign to bring the Big Apple back to life after a rough patch. Nor when there's news about the auction of guitarist and recording genius Les Paul's personal 'Number One' guitar – it's estimate is $100,000-150,000 and that's not silly money.
The news about Prince Andrew's dealings with Jeffrey Epstein is hardly silly either, it's very serious, and we have a hard-hitting article by Andrew's biographer. Finally, both our reviews (one restaurant and a 'Sinatra' show at the Edinburgh Fringe) are class acts, not silly at all!
Enjoy your newsletter.
