We've followed the story of the new US Embassy ever since the idea of a move was mooted, through the competition for an architect, the design process, the ground-breaking, the build, all the way to the opening in 2016 (hmm, maybe it's not so new now!). We've been impressed by the building itself, and also by the infrastructure, the apartment blocks and the Sky Pool built around it. We even held our ElectionFest voter registration party next to it back in 2016. In all that time there's been talk of new underground stations being built to link the neighborhood with the rest of London, so residents can get about more easily, and visitors to the embassy can get there simply and efficiently. That day's finally arriving with the opening of the new Nine Elms and Battersea Power Station tube stations - read more below. If you're going that way, check out the embassy's emotive 9/11 remembrance exhibition. And if you're planning a trip to Paris, from November you'll be able to see a memorial to the famed actress and dancer Josephine Baker, who also worked with the French Resistance during the Second World War. Her body will be reinterred there, when she will become the first American and the first black woman to be inducted into the Panthéon mausoleum – one of the greatest honors the French government can endow. Back in London, there's a great Irish play written by a London-based Broadway and Hollywood writer, and an important modern play about an important historic play that was banned in New York – you can read our reviews here.
