The new representative, aka Chief of Mission and officially Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Court of St. Jamess, is Warren A. Stephens, who arrived at the embassy in Nine Elms on May 12.

Ambassador Stephens was confirmed by the Senate on April 29 and gave his official oath on April 30 in the presence of President Donald Trump and Secretary of State Marco Rubio at the White House, preceded by an administrative swearing in by the Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau.

Arriving in London he met senior officials at the UK Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) for an administrative presentation of his credentials, then went to the US Embassy to be welcomed by his staff. He will present his credentials to King Charles III later.

The Ambassador was born in Little Rock, Arkansas, joined his father and uncle in Stephens Inc., the familys investment banking business then became its president and CEO.

Stephens will immediately begin receiving internal briefings from U.S. Embassy section and agency heads whose work advances the security and prosperity of both of our countries. In the days and weeks ahead, he will meet with elected UK government officials and leaders in business, military, culture, and the arts to advance the full range of shared interests in the bilateral relationship.

Ambassador Stephens, commenting on his new role, said, I am grateful to the United States Senate for confirming my nomination to serve as the Ambassador of the United States to the Court of St Jamess. I am excited to join President Trumps team as we work to implement the Presidents agenda. It is an honor to serve in the United Kingdom, one of our closest allies. I have a deep admiration for the UK, having traveled here many times for work and pleasure. I am committed to further strengthening the long-standing special relationship between the United States and the United Kingdom. I have always wanted to serve my country, and the opportunity to do so in this capacity is humbling and exciting. I look forward to meeting and working with the Mission UK team in the days and weeks ahead.
