The first annual United States Visiting Forces (USVF) vs United Kingdom Armed Forces (UKAF) Flag Football Game, hosted by the New York Jets, is set to take place at Royal Air Force Lakenheath on May 17, 2024. The game will serve as The NY Jets' Kick-off to the National Football League's annual Salute to Service campaign.
In addition to supporting the event with jerseys, merchandise and equipment, the NY Jets have recruited two alumni players, Tony Richardson and Erik Coleman, to travel to RAF Lakenheath and join the game as honorary coaches, offering their expertise to both teams.
"This will be the 36th Flag Football game the Jets have sponsored for the Armed Forces. In prior years, they have also sponsored multi-service flag football games on bases in Afghanistan, Iraq, Turkey, Japan, Kuwait, Djibouti, German, United Kingdom and in the US, some in which the US Forces faced foreign opponents," according to Steven Castleton, the Jets Military Liaison and Civilian Aide to the Secretary of the Army (Ret.).
Events for the day include a pre-game tailgate party hosted by the United Service Organizations with games, food, and giveaways to kick off the event. Following the game there will be an after party located at the Liberty Club where players, families, and the local community can celebrate camaraderie between partner nation armed forces.
Experience the power of camaraderie and competition as the first USVF vs UKAF flag football game brings together the best of both national on the field for an electrifying display of skill and sportsmanship.
