THE TRANSATLANTIC MAGAZINE
Founded November 15, 1969 in Columbus, Ohio, Wendy’s has been feeding the world for nearly 52 years. Wendy’s had restaurants in the UK from 1980-1986 and again from 1992-2000 but pulled out again citing high property and operating costs as the reason, leaving the UK (it seemed) for good.
In November of last year (2020), however, they announced that they were on track to open their first UK restaurant in 20 years in the first half of 2021, and this month (February) they have disclosed that one of their first locations will open in Oxford city centre and they have submitted a planning application for a location in Reading in 2020.
Things may have slowed down as a result of England’s national lockdown beginning in January, but the future for UK Wendy’s-lovers looks bright!
