American Citizens Abroad (ACA) and State Department Federal Credit Union (SDFCU) have partnered to empower U.S citizens overseas, combining advocacy and tailored financial solutions to help Americans thrive personally and financially abroad.
ACA is a Washington, DC- based 501(c)(4) non-profit, non-partisan, advocacy organization representing the legislative and regulatory concerns of five million US citizens overseas to the U.S. Government. For nearly 50 years ACA has defended U.S. citizens’ interests on voting, citizenship, taxation and more. ACA conducts research, develops policy positions, and lobbies directly to the U.S. Congress and Administration. ACA offers members benefits like the ability to apply for a State Department Federal Credit Union (SDFCU) banking account through our membership.

State Department Federal Credit Union (SDFCU) is a member-owned financial institution offering a full range of banking solutions tailored for U.S. citizens overseas. Services include digital banking, international money transfers and bill payments, digital card issuance, secure WhatsApp authentication, and cards with no foreign transaction fees. Membership is open to U.S. citizens abroad, with additional eligibility through its partnership with American Citizens Abroad (ACA).
