If you’re thinking of joining the celebrations for the 250th anniversary of the United States, wherever you currently are, the US Semiquincentennial Commission – aka America250 – has some ideas for you.
It’s creating what it’s calling the “largest synchronized Fourth of July celebration in US history”: America’s Block Party. This July 3rd and 4th, communities across the country and beyond will gather for live music, shared moments, and local celebrations that reflect the spirit of Independence Day.
America’s Block Party is a once-in-a-generation nationwide celebration powered by communities like yours. Whether it’s a neighborhood gathering, a local concert, a community celebration, a backyard cookout, a block party, or a simple a family gathering your event could be your way to take part in the 250th and create a shared experience where you live.
You can register to host an official America’s Block Party and get access to a digital toolkit with ideas, resources, and materials to help you plan your event. They’re offering printable logos and signage, games and activity ideas, promotional offers and other ideas for ways to participate.
In addition to local America’s neighborhood Block Parties, America250 will be celebrating at larger concerts, festivals, and other major events this Independence Day. The first ones announced are:
Historic July 3 Times Square Ball Drop, New York, NY
For the first time in its 120-year history, the Times Square Ball will drop outside of New Year’s Eve. On July 3 at 11:59 p.m. ET, the Ball will illuminate in a custom America250 design before descending at midnight into July 4. The Ball’s crystals for 2026 were custom-made for America’s 250th anniversary, featuring three distinct designs — Infinite Life (1.5-inch), Infinite Liberty (3-inch), and Infinite Happiness (4-inch). Each design features interwoven curves and circular motifs to reflect the shared ideals at the heart of America’s story.
July 4 Concert at the LA Memorial Coliseum, Los Angeles, CA
On July 4, America250 will host a family-friendly concert at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, bringing together major musical artists and patriotic tributes for an in-person audience up to 50,000 and a nationwide livestream audience. Headlining talent will be announced soon.
Waterfront Independence Day Celebration, Charleston, SC
Charleston played a crucial role in the American Revolution and in advancing the nation’s founding ideals. Hosted by SC250, the Independence Day celebration on the waterfront will feature a peninsula-wide fireworks display, the largest in the Southeast. Fort Campbell, KY
Fort Campbell, the home of the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), will host a July 4 festival expected to draw more than 100,000 attendees, both military families and the general public, featuring The Legend of Charlie Daniels Tribute Concert with special guests Aaron Tippin, Eric Lee Beddingfield, and the 101st Airborne Division Band.
Summerfest
Set along Lake Michigan, Summerfest will serve as an official America250 Block Party location, welcoming fans from across the country for its July 4 celebration, part of a series of Summerfest events which run through June and early July. The Independence Day event will feature a full day of live music, including performances by Jelly Roll, Sam Barber, The Temper Trap, BoDeans, Soul Asylum, Joywave, Jonah Kagen, and more.
