American financier Keith Breslauer has been appointed as an Honorary Colonel in the UK’s Royal Marines Reserve. His role, approved by His Majesty King Charles III, took effect on October 1, 2025 and will last for an initial three-year period.
The Managing Partner of Patron Capital, an institutional investor focused on property-backed investments, Mr Breslauer is also the Vice Patron of RMA – The Royal Marines Charity (www.rma-trmc.org). He and Patron have a long-standing relationship with the Royal Marines and raise large amounts of funds to support the charity in its mission to offer lifelong support to the Royal Marines ‘family’. This includes providing critical support, advice and friendship to serving and retired Marines, their families, those who aspire to join and those with close links to its Corps. They also have mentoring programs helping veterans adjust to life after military service.
Mr Breslauer’s activities have involved completing an 87.5 nautical mile paddle across the English Channel in kayaks with the RMA Paddle Group and veterans rehabilitated by the Hasler Naval Service Recovery Centre, culminating in a re-enactment of the D-Day landings at Sword Beach, Normandy, to mark the 80th anniversary of D-Day and raise awareness of the charity’s vital work with veterans. Since 2010 Mr Breslauer and Patron have raised over £6.5 million for the charity. In 2023 alone, Patron’s support helped over 2,700 individuals and offered support to over 25,000 association members. Patron supports initiatives for wounded, sick and injured Royal Marines including Rock2Recovery and Climb2Recovery, The Veteran Games, and hosting veteran skiers from the Royal Marines and Combined Services Recovery Centre at the annual Patron company ski trip in Chamonix. It also hosts an annual RMA dinner at London’s Guildhall in November, which in 2024 raised £1.1 million.
Mr Breslauer said: “I am immensely proud to have received approval from His Majesty The King to serve as an Honorary Colonel in the Royal Marines Reserve. As a Trustee for 9 years, and more recently as Vice Patron of the RMA, I have been honoured to work to pay tribute to those who have served or continue to serve in our Armed Forces. As Honorary Colonel I will proudly support existing and spearhead new programmes that help the Service people who give so much for us.”
