THE TRANSATLANTIC MAGAZINE
It doesn't matter if you're an American who finds themselves in Derbyshire, Darlington or the fictional village of "Dorkington", it is important you exercise your right to vote by registering.
You may be familiar with the work of Julia Louis-Dreyfus, but she found herself in the unfamiliar surroundings of the sleepy village of "Dorkington" in this short Public Service Announcement from the Center for US Voters Abroad Turnout Project that aired in the UK during the Super Bowl yesterday. Being far from home can be quite daunting at the best of times, and as she found herself in the local pub asking for the big game to be put on, she had to endure a 'local' cheering on his canine friend in the sheepdog trials.
With fellow actor and comedian Nick Offerman coming in to offer her help and support, the very patriotically dressed Offerman reminded her that missing America does not mean you have to miss out on being American. This year is important for you to use your right to vote, and as Nick explains to Julia, it takes but five minutes of your time to register from abroad.
Rooting for the sheep on this occasion is not a bad thing! If you follow the herd – or lead it – and go to https://usvotersabroad.org/ you will find all the information you need to register and be ready to vote.
