Veterans Day and Remembrance Sunday marked in the UK and Europe
The American cemeteries at Brookwood and Cambridge will host ceremonies, as will cemeteries across Europe
www.abmc.gov
This year has been an important one for observing and remembering veterans from the US, UK and around the world. 2018 marked 100 years since the end of World War One, whilst in 2019, events have taken place to commemorate the 75th anniversary of D-Day. Earlier this year, there was also a prominent tribute to those who keep the memories alive, as Tony Foulds was rightly celebrated for his maintenance of a USAF memorial in Sheffield.
This year, Remembrance Sunday is observed in the United Kingdom on November 10. The annual memorial ceremony will take place in central London at the Cenotaph in Whitehall. The event will be covered on BBC One.
Veteran's Day, which takes place on Monday November 11, will also be marked in the UK and on Continental Europe. Details on ceremonies taking place at cemeteries in the UK, France, Belgium, Italy and Luxembourg can be found below. Please e-mail news@theamerican.co.uk to let us know if you're arranging a ceremony or memorial event for Veterans Day 2019.
